This position will be based at the Central Distribution site in Karsanji Street, Vatuwaqa, reporting to the Risk Manager. The nature of the role includes: Ensuring occupational health and safety and environmental plans and procedures for all activities are developed including project works, implemented and complied with, in line with set standards. Identifying and managing all of the HSE risks associated, including business and operational risks. Ensuring all HSE standards, plans, procedures etc are conveyed to all staff and contractors working on sites. Leading a culture of reporting hazards, incidents and near miss events and ensure they are appropriately investigated and actioned to prevent recurrence. Taking the lead and participating in visible HSE initiatives (e.g. workplace inspections, HSE meeting attendance, internal audits, hazard and incident reporting and behavioural observations) to drive site wide HSE performance. Hold individuals at all levels accountable for their HSE actions and take the relevant disciplinary action when necessary. Overseeing environmental management programs including monitoring, land rehabilitation, water management, waste management and other key functions. Managing the HSE team and oversight of HSE requirements during operations; Supporting on-the-job and external HSE training programs for relevant personnel; Developing training and development matrices with plans for all HSE personnel; Provide succession planning within the department’s overall people development program. Integrate Process Safety Management into a behaviour-based HSE Programing. Key skills and attributes required: A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, OHS, Engineering or relevant field. Minimum of 10 years working experience in a similar role. Experience in developing and implementing HSE management system initiatives. Proven experience in managing contractors HSE performance on operating sites. A valid OHS Accredited Trainer Certification is desirable. Registered Training Instructor or Training Officer. Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Proven experience in coaching and developing teams to ensure successful outcomes. A valid and current group 2 manual driver’s license.
