About the Role
Universal is launching a new Technical Solutions Division to deliver professional installation, maintenance, and support solutions for:
- Solar systems (installation & service)
- Computers & IT support
- Alarm systems
- CCTV supply & installation
- Networking & structured cabling
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Technical Solutions Manager to lead this division—building the service offering, managing projects, developing technicians, and ensuring high-quality work and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the Technical Services Division, including planning, workflow, and service delivery standards.
- Conduct site surveys and propose best-fit technical solutions for residential and commercial customers.
- Manage installation and service projects end-to-end (scope, scheduling, materials, quality checks, handover).
- Supervise and mentor technicians/subcontractors; ensure safe work practices and job documentation.
- Support sales teams with technical advice, quotations, BOQs, and solution design (solar/IT/security/networking).
- Implement service processes: job cards, checklists, commissioning reports, warranty/returns tracking.
- Maintain customer relationships and ensure excellent after-sales service and response times.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure correct equipment selection and availability.
- Track KPIs: job completion time, call-backs, service revenue, customer satisfaction, and gross margin.
Skills & Experience (What We’re Looking For)
- Proven experience in technical installations/service management (minimum 3–5 years preferred).
- Strong practical knowledge in at least 2–3 of the following:
- Solar PV installation and troubleshooting (inverters, batteries, charge controllers, basic system sizing)
- CCTV installation (IP cameras/NVRs, remote viewing setup)
- Alarm/security systems installation and commissioning
- Computer hardware/software support
- Networking (routers, switches, Wi‑Fi, structured cabling, patch panels)
- Ability to read diagrams, plan layouts, and troubleshoot faults efficiently.
- Strong leadership skills (team supervision, training, job allocation, quality control).
- Strong customer service mindset and clear communication (verbal + written).
- Must be organized: documentation, reporting, quoting support, and job scheduling.
- Valid driver’s license (preferred) and willingness to travel when required.
