The Operations and Management Directorate (OMD) provides organisational governance and support to SPC divisions and programmes in areas including administration, finance, human resources, ICT and knowledge management. The Assistant Accountant will responsible for the provision of effective and efficient financial services including customers, vendors and assets management, staff training and development, processing, general ledger reconciliations and assisting in process improvements and compliance. The key responsibilities of the role include the following: Cash books, treasury and bank accounts reconciliations Vendor and customer management and reconciliations Fixed assets processing and reconciliations General journal posting and ledger reconciliations Assist with any process reviews and improvement functions and training of divisional finance staff Other general duties as and when required For a more detailed account of the key responsibilities, please refer to the job description provided. Key selection criteria Qualifications Degree in accounting or any other related field from a recognised institution Knowledge and experience At least 3 years of relevant experience Strong numeric skills and finance-related work background Experience in use of computerised accounting systems and reporting tool Essential skills Excellent communication skills required with strong client orientation Able to participate effectively in a team-based, information-sharing environment, collaborating and cooperating with others Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and complete work within deadlines Language skills Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) Interpersonal skills and cultural awareness Ability to work in a multicultural, inclusive and equitable environment Salary, terms and conditions Contract Duration – 3 years Remuneration – This is a full-time position at Band 7 in SPC’s 2020 salary scale, with a commencing taxable salary range of FJD 2,232-2,790 per month, plus local staff benefits. An offer of appointment for an initial contract will be made in the lower half of this range, with due consideration given to experience and qualifications. Progression within the salary scale will be based on annual performance reviews.
