The Role 

Pepper Advantage Hub (Fiji) is seeking a Group Controller to join our senior leadership team.

Purpose of the Group Controller role is to:

  • Perform operational activities to support Group Head Office, spanning Australia, UK, and Europe
  • Lead the production of Pepper’s consolidated financial statements
  • Perform activities relating to the global consolidation controls to ensure accuracy of Pepper’s financial results including intercompany matching and FX translation
  • Operational activities include accounts payable, intercompany transactions, expense management, accruals, prepayments, bank reconciliations and other related activities
  • Become an expert user of all finance systems, banking, accounts payable and expense management
  • Prepare financial statements for Group Head Office entities and manage the audit for allocated entities
  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions for new business

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational accounting activities, including finance administration and accounting, transactional accounting, and attestations/reconciliations
    • Perform operational activities to support the Head Office, spanning: Australia, UK, Europe, and Asia
    • Operational activities include accounts payable, intercompany transactions, expense management, accruals, prepayments, bank reconciliations and other related activities
    • Managing accurate and timely processing of day-to-day financial transactions
    • Managing aspects from transactions to reporting to attestations for assigned Head Office entities
    • Monthly reconciliation of ledgers and sub-ledgers
    • Preparing Balance Sheet and P&L variance analysis reports and explanations for assigned entities
    • Preparing financial models for tender and pricing submissions
  • Commercial analysis to drive profitability and strategic growth
    • Create dynamics models that asset in pricing, new and existing, contracts and tender opportunities
    • Collaborating directly with department heads, directors, and operational managers to guide the financial impact of business decisions
    • Review operating costs and identify areas of efficiency
  • Individual entity reporting and audit completion (by external auditors)
    • Respond to inquiries and provide analysis of financial information as required
    • Preparation of regulatory returns for assigned entities (financial statements and tax related returns)
    • Manage the external audit of allocated head office entities (by external auditors)
  • Consolidation and control
    • Group consolidation including performance of monthly consolidation controls including FX translation, intercompany matching
    • Interaction with Global finance teams to understand and align financial accounting procedures across jurisdictions
    • Review of Pepper Group results

Skills and experience required:

  • Candidate needs to be flexible in terms of working hours (Ideally from 8 pm to 5.00 am FJT).
  • Accounting qualification e.g. CPA. Chartered Accountant
  • Relevant tertiary degree qualification in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 3+ years financial accounting experience, ideally with 2+ years in the Fin Tech, Financial Services, or Big 4
  • Experience in external reporting, auditing, reconciliations, taxation, global consolidations and technical IFRS knowledge is an advantage
  • Proficiency in data analysis and financial modelling
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Self-starter, efficient, detail-oriented (this is critical), resourceful, multi-tasker
  • Strong prioritisation and organisational skills.
