Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Commis Chef- Pastry  to join our dynamic kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual looking to grow their culinary career in a fast-paced, high-standard resort setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operation of pastry and bakery section operations to ensure food items are prepared in a timely manner, the team is ready for meal service and items are cooked to order and prepared and served in a timely manner to ensure maximum guest satisfaction
  • Undertake the daily/weekly stock-take of Pastry/Bakery section provisions, reporting results to the Executive Chef
  • Ensure all kitchen team members receive training to maintain standard levels of hygiene, food preparation, pastry production and decoration of all pastry and bakery products
  • Take part in product development and quality control standards monitoring
  • Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum Certificate III in Cookery, with specialization in pastry
  • Demonstrated commercial pastry production experience, preferably in a mid to large size hotel or resort kitchen pastry department
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience to at least Chef de Partie level
  • A passion for designing and producing pastry, bakery, and dessert products
  • An excellent understanding of food hygiene and practical implementation of a Food Safety Plan
  • Must possess a positive attitude and have the ability to work with a variety of people and in cooperation with co-workers, efficiently and effectively
  • The ability to train and mentor junior chefs
