Lomani Island Resort & Spa is seeking a professional and guest-focused Duty Manager to oversee the daily operations of the resort and ensure exceptional guest experiences in a relaxed island setting. This role is responsible for supervising day-to-day resort operations across all departments, maintaining service standards, and ensuring the smooth running of the property during each shift. The Duty Manager will act as the key point of contact for guests, handling inquiries, requests, and resolving any concerns promptly and professionally. The role also involves supporting departmental teams, coordinating with Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Engineering, monitoring staff performance, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and operational procedures.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, excellent communication skills, a hands-on approach, and a passion for delivering memorable hospitality experiences for our guests.

  • Manage, record, and resolve promptly all guest complaints
  • Maintain a visible presence in the hotel front office/lobby area during peak guest times, interacting with guests to provide assistance and answer queries
  • Meet and greet VIP guests upon arrival and departure
  • Complete VIP room inspections prior to arrival for late incoming guests
  • Supervise staff members across the resort property, ensuring regular inspection walks occur and contact is made regularly throughout the shift with staff on duty in all departments including security
  • Handle, record and follow through with management issues or emergencies that arise
  • Ensure staff receive an appropriate staff meal and meal break
  • Assist with guest check in and check out procedures
  • Assist with luggage delivery or collection from rooms and accompanying arrival guests to room
  • Monitor business levels in the bar and restaurant area, assisting as required and ensuring responsible service of alcohol is provided at all times
  • Monitor guest activity at pool area, including noise level
  • Ensure wake-up calls are accurately recorded, programmed and received on time
  • Lead the hotel’s emergency response in the event of an emergency
  • Ensure resort management are immediately notified of a serious emergency situation such as fire or death on the premises
  • Be familiar with emergency plan response details and responsibilities
  • Monitor completion of night audit duties, providing assistance as required to ensure that the day closure accounting procedures are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure accurate recording of all relevant information in management handover log
  • Manage staffing issues including sick calls and rostering of alternative staff
  • Represent senior resort management as required when they are not on duty
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by your manager

  • Excellent English communication skills, written and oral
  • Good working knowledge of Opera
  • Previous front office senior leadership experience in a busy, medium or large size resort or hotel, with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to empathize
  • Attention to detail
  • Good operational knowledge of hotel operations and ability to assist across all areas
  • Confidence to lead staff during an emergency response
  • First Aid/CPR qualification is an advantage
