Reverse Osmosis Technician

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Plantation Island Resort is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Reverse Osmosis Technician to join our Engineering team. This role is responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring the resort’s reverse osmosis water treatment systems to ensure a consistent supply of safe, high-quality water for guests and staff.

The Reverse Osmosis Technician will carry out routine inspections, system servicing, water quality testing, and preventative maintenance while ensuring all equipment is operating efficiently and in compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently to support the smooth operation of the resort’s water systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Add chemicals or other liquids to disinfect water
  • Inspect and maintain all equipment on a regular basis
  • Order replacement parts, filters and membranes in a timely manner to ensure standby stocks are available
  • Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges
  • Collect and test water samples
  • Service and maintain all treatment plant systems including:

                                        i.               Sea water intake pipes, pumps and filters

                                      ii.               Saltwater storage tank to ensure sufficient supply to the RO units

                                    iii.               Saltwater pump station equipment and RO supply pipes

  • Maintain and operate the filtering and chemical treatment processes including backwashing, chemical cleaning and changing of filters and membranes as required
  • Inspect, service and repair components of the water treatment plant including water intakes, pipes, water storage vessels, chemical treatment, equipment controls, circulation pumps and valves
  • Maintain the RO unit and fittings free of rust by replacement where necessary and regular rust removal and treatment to steelwork
  • Ensure an adequate supply of water for human consumption for all resort requirements
  • Establish a preventative maintenance program
  • Maintain the general administration of the water system in order to ensure effective operations
  • Keep a daily log of readings and tasks completed
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by your manager

About You:

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to read and monitor gauges, system equipment and instructions
  • Ability to complete minor equipment maintenance
  • Understanding of water treatment process is preferable
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace OHS
  • Demonstrated understanding of safe chemical handling, mixing and storage
