The Senior Tourism Officer is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of tourism policies and strategies for the sustainable development and growth of the Fiji tourism industry.
The position will achieve its purpose through the following:
1) Implement policies, strategies and procedures that maximize Government investments for the sustainable development of the tourism industry;
2) Coordinate and support the implementation of the National Sustainable Tourism Framework and its Action Plan;
3) Support the co-creation and delivery of community-based tourism initiatives
4) Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen sustainable tourism development;
5) In collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, develop findings and recommendations and prepare briefs and policies that provide analytical information that meets the needs of stakeholders;
6) Analyze and verify data and assessments of stakeholder reports and project proposals and provide recommendations to support evidence-based decision making;
7) Provide secretariat support services, develop reports, updates and implement action items; and
8) Actively contribute to the Ministry and corporate requirement, including planning, budgeting and human resource activities where required.
