Senior Construction Engineer (The Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services & Transport)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The position oversees the whole operations of the Department's Buildings section, inclusive of the joinery and plumbing workshops at the Western Division.

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties;

1. Management of buildings section daily operations; setting the strategic direction of the Section

2. Coordinate, control, and monitor construction and maintenance projects

3. Implement policies & best practices in management, operations, and procurement

4. Initiate estimates and costing of projects as requested

5. Liaise with other government agencies, clients, and the general public.

6. Compile, vet, and submit reports as needed.

7. Actively contribute to Ministry requirements, including planning, budgeting, and corporate activities.

Knowledge & Experience

  1. Have at least 3 - 4 years of technical work experience with management experience in the field of the construction industry.
  2. Have working knowledge of project management.
  3. Effective knowledge of government systems and processes, work estimates, reporting, and procurement.

  2. Demonstrated ability to lead, plan and organize activities/projects and work cooperatively within a team environment
  3. Sound communication, interpersonal and representational skills

  7. Service-oriented approach, with a commitment to supporting the operational and corporate environment of the organization.

 

Additional Information

Applicants for employment in the Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment.
