Technical Officer (MEPSL) (The Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services & Transport)

The position supports the functions of the Director Energy through the Senior Scientific Officer and is responsible for assisting in the implementation works of the MEPSL program.

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following principle accountabilities:

1. Compile an updated list of all new and existing registered importers of freezers and refrigerators into Fiji;

2. Boarder inspections/verification/screening and processing of applications for all freezers and refrigerator imports into the country;

3. Conduct shop floor Audits to monitor retailers that they comply with MEPSL program;

4. Assist SO in liaison/collaboration with the Pacific Appliance Labelling and Standards (PALS) program and other stakeholders;

5. Designing and creating of awareness materials Flyers, Brochures, Merchandise, TV Radio & Newspaper adverts);

6. Assist in the collection, compilation, analysis and publication of National Energy Statistics; and

7. Assist/ Organize Energy Saver Competition programme and conduct awareness campaigns.

Knowledge & Experience

1. At least five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in their discipline and working knowledge in DSM and MEPSL program, policy planning, management and sustainable development;
2. Understand of team dynamics and how to work within a high performance team;
3. Experience in public relation and marketing;
4. Experience in Energy Technologies and engineering knowledge is an advantage; and
5. Experience in Energy Efficient products and Renewable Energy Technologies.

6. Computer skills including the ability to operate Designing and other relevant software’s.

Additional Information
