Sawmill Attendant (Ministry of Forestry)

The core role of this position is to receive the sawn logs Breast Bench Operator and transfer to cross cut grader.

Key Responsibilities

1. Receive rough sawn timber from the edger out feed deck.

2.Transfer rough sawn timber to the cross cut in feed deck.

3.Examine timber to determine length, grade and other characteristics for optimum timber recovery.

4.Undertake any other duties assigned by the Production Supervisor.

Knowledge & Experience

1. 1. 6 to 12 months experience in operating sawmill machines.
2. 2. Knowledge and experience in timber grading.
3. 3. Knowledge and experience in all aspects of wood processing.

Skills & Abilities

1. 1. Ability to work under pressure.
2. 2. Ability to make the right decision.
3. 3. Ability to work well within a team.
4. 4. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
5. 5. Good time management skills.
