Sawmill Operator (Ministry of Forestry)

The core role of this position is to operate the cross cut machine or number three machines at the Sawmill to cut rough sawn timber into valid lengths and grades.

Key Responsibilities

1. Receive sawn timber from Timber Grader.

2.Dock according to defects and standard valid lengths marked by grader.

3.Transfer timber for anti-sap stain dipping.

4.Undertake any other duties assigned by the Production Supervisor.

Knowledge & Experience

1. 1. 18 months experience in operating sawmill machines.
2. 2. Knowledge and experience in timber grading.
3. 3. Knowledge and experience in all aspects of wood processing

Skills & Abilities

1. 1. Ability to work under pressure.
2. 2. Ability to make the right decision.
3. 3. Ability to work well within a team.
4. 4. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
5. 5. Good time management skills.
