Clerical Officer – Accounts (Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The position provides administrative and financial support service for the Ministry to ensure continuation of high service delivery in the Ministry.

 

Key Responsibilities

The appointee is responsible for:

1. Daily posting on ledgers, compiling and filing away of all paid payment vouchers systematically.

2. Ensuring that all purchases and payments for the Ministry are made in line with financial regulations as stipulated in the Financial Instructions and Ministry’s Finance Manual.

3. All accounting reconciliations are carried out within agreed timeframe and in accordance with the governing financial policies and procedures.

4. Checking and verification of redeemed Social Protection Programme vouchers from all service providers.

5. Preparation and submission of all excess approvals to the Ministry of Economy.

6. Actively contribute to all corporate requirements of the Ministry, including planning, budgeting and selection activities where required.

Knowledge & Experience

  1. At least one(1) year of experience in a similar field preferred;
  2. Proper understanding of the Fijian constitution 2013 and applicable public sector policies and procedures;
  3. Familiar with Finance Act, Finance Instruction, Finance Manual, General Orders, PSC circular, and Finance circular.
  4. Familiar with Standard Operating Procedure on Social Protection Programs.
  5. Familiar with basic computer programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

 

Additional Information

Applicants for employment must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment.
