Clerical Officer – Disability (Labasa) (Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The position supports a range of support services provided for persons with disabilities in the districts that they serve in, ensuring their inclusiveness and accessibility to relevant government services.

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following:

1. Process and administer human resources services to support Ministry operations, including (but not limited to) keeping of personnel records, attending to correspondence, undertaking planning activities.

2. Provide input to the processing of Disability Allowance Applications in ensuring calculations and administration of the Scheme is conducted within financial regulation requirements of government.

3. Undertake all required activities to ensure that all stationary request, booking and maintenance of the vehicle are conducted in a timely manner.

4. Maintaining of the Disability program database within the district, and ensuring that monthly returns are sent.

5. Provide support and advice to the Administration Officer Disabilities on the budget utilization and in ensuring that proper financial procedures are adhered to, during operations.

6. Compiling, Submitting and answering to Mode of Payment queries

 

 

Knowledge & Experience

  1. At least 1 years experience working on a broad range of office support staff functions preferred;
  2. Practical, working knowledge of all aspects and functions of basic financial and administration work;
  3. Familiar with the Fijian Constitution (2013), knowledge of the PSC Act/Regulations 1999, Juveniles Act (Cap56), Fiji National Council of Disabled Persons Act 1994, Social Justice Act 2001, Family Law Act, Mental Health Decree and applicable labour laws of Fiji;
  4. Familiar with database maintenance and generating useful reports for decision making;
  5. Demonstrated experience in handling customer queries and responding on time.

  1. Excellent communication skills, mathematical skills and the ability to tactfully deal with employees within the required legislative and policy framework
  2. Demonstrated ability to be a consistent, flexible, adaptable, reliable worker and ability to work with minimum resources to meet objectives;
  3. Demonstrated innovative, focused and organized worker, team player;
  4. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement best practices, meeting goals and creating an environment for team work;
  5. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain database and maintain confidentiality at all times.
