Assistant Accounts Officer (Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The position is responsible for facilitating of payments, monitoring and ensuring all timely payout to service providers. All payments are to be in accordance with the relevant regulations. The position is also responsible for reconciling of all redeemed Social Protection Programme payouts including Grants and assisting in payments of Salary & Wages, Creditors. Also assist in reconciliation of Accounts and Ledgers.

Key Responsibilities

1. The processing of Social Protection Programme payout and vendor payments.

2. Reconciling of all Social Protection Programme payout including Grants. 

3. Providing responses to the Social Protection Programme and Grant payments related financial issues to the Managers and Clients. 

4. Updating of all stated above programme records and reconciliations. 

5. Assisting payments of Salary & Wages, Creditors. 

6. Assisting in reconciliation of Accounts and Ledgers. 

7. Actively contribute to the Ministry and Corporate requirements. 

 

 

Knowledge & Experience

  1. At least 18 month’s experience in Accounting or a similar field.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the Fijian constitution 2013 and applicable public sector policies and procedures;
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of Finance Act, Finance Instruction, Finance Manual, General Orders, PSC circular, and Finance circular.
  4. Demonstrated Knowledge on Standard Operating Procedures in similar workplace.

  1. Demonstrated ability to achieve results as an individual and through effective team leadership;
  2. Excellent communication, interpersonal, representational and stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead projects, change management, organizes activities and manages and motivates team and work with multi-functional team.
  4. Demonstrated service oriented approach, with a commitment to supporting the operational and corporate environment of the organization and work beyond normal working hours.

 

Additional Information

Applicants for employment must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment.
