The Director of Transport provides professional and organizational leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic policy frameworks and responses which enable the achievement of the Ministry’s planned outcome and alignment with broader government objectives. The Director provides expert strategic advice to Deputy Secretary Operations regarding current, evolving or emerging transport policy issues to facilitate executive decision making.
The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:
1. Provide strategic evidence-based advice and support to the Senior Management on the formulation and implementation of transport policies;
2. Lead professionals and Transport development activities within the Ministry to effectively deliver the agreed projects;
3. Participate in and contribute to strategic and business planning process, aligning policy review and development priorities and resources to support organizational objectives and outcomes;
4. Establish and sustain effective working relationships with transport officers and key stakeholders across the public sector, Statutory Authorities more generally to optimize engagement, consultation, negotiation and facilitation of transport alignment, implementation and response;
5. Identify, evaluate and critically analyze highly complex and political sensitive issues and concerns affecting transport outcomes to deliver evidence-based decision making and develop logical, practical and well balanced policy resolutions;
6. Actively contribute to all corporate requirements on the Ministry, including planning, budgeting and selection activities where required;
7. Identify and manage risks associated with transport policies and projects, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place; and
8. Ensure all transport policies and projects comply with national and international regulations and standard
