Position Number: LSP030 - Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Re-Advertisement)
The School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics is one of the largest schools at The University of the South Pacific. It is sufficiently resourced to pursue excellence in teaching and research. The school offers several Undergraduate programs, including 2 accredited engineering programs (Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering), Civil Engineering, Physics, Computer Science/Information Systems, and Mathematics. It also offers postgraduate study programs.
The school seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to teach at different levels (undergraduate, postgraduate, and Master's degree) and a range of standard topics in the area of Mechanical Engineering.
The appointee will:
USP is a multi-modal university, offering courses in a variety of modes including print, face-to-face, blended, and online. The Appointees will be based at the main Laucala campus in Fiji but will teach across all campuses in the region. The appointees will also be expected to teach evening sessions.
Specific Duties
Specific duties of a Senior Lecturer may include:
i) A Senior Lecturer is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of a School, Institute, programme, or an interdisciplinary area.
ii) A Senior Lecturer is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research, and/or professional activities.
iii) A Senior Lecturer is expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
