The Senior Policy Officer (SPO) is responsible for supporting the initial formulation, review and implementation of Civil Aviation and Tourism policies and standards aligned to the Ministry’s priorities. The SPO will conduct research, analysis and arrange stakeholder engagement to provide an informed, evidence based policy development and promote effective service delivery across the Ministry.
The position will achieve its purpose through the following:
1) Conduct research and policy analysis to inform the development review, and implementation of Civil Aviation and Tourism Policies, strategies, frameworks and standards;
2) Assist in drafting Policy documents, cabinet submissions, briefings, memos and reports to support Cabinet decision making;
3) Undertake research and analyse data to identify and evaluate emerging trends to assist in the Monitor and Evaluate existing Policies and Standards, Strategies and Frameworks identifying gaps and recommending improvements;
4) Support stakeholder consultation and coordination within Government Ministries partners and stakeholders;
5) Provide secretariat and administrative support and logistics for policy-related work, committees and forums;
6) Contribute to the alignment of national policies with international obligations and regional frameworks and treaties especially with ICAO and UNTWO;
7) Actively contribute to the Ministry and corporate requirements, including planning, budgeting, and human resource activities where required.
