Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

To conduct investigations into narcotics-related crimes, gather evidence, and prepare cases for successful prosecution.

 

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:

1. Lead and conduct thorough investigations into assigned cases, ensuring accuracy and integrity of findings.

2. Collect, document, and safeguard physical and digital evidence in strict compliance with chain‑of‑custody protocols.

3. Carry out structured interviews with witnesses and suspects, recording reliable information to support case development.

4. Compile comprehensive case files and documentation to support prosecution and judicial processes.

 

 

Knowledge & Experience

  1. 1. 3–5 years of proven experience in law enforcement or investigative roles.
  2. 2. Solid knowledge of narcotics laws, investigative procedures, and counter‑crime strategies.
  3. 3. Experience working with intelligence and forensic units to build strong, evidence‑based cases.
  4. 4. Familiarity with criminal justice processes, evidentiary standards, and investigative protocols.

 

Skills & Abilities

  1. 1. Skilled in conducting surveillance, interviews, and interrogations to gather reliable information.
  2. 2. Ability to collect, document, and preserve both physical and digital evidence with strict chain‑of‑custody compliance.
  3. 3. Competent in compiling detailed investigation reports and case files that support prosecution.
  4. 4. Strong ability to present findings and testify effectively as an expert witness in judicial proceedings.

 

Additional Information

All applicants for employment in the Ministry of Policing must be of good character, with a background that demonstrates their commitment to the civil service values contained in the Fijian Constitution. Applicants must also be a Fijian Citizen, under the age 60 years, in sound health, with a clear police record. The selected applicants will be required to provide a medical and police clearance, prior to taking up duty as a condition of employment.
