Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

To conduct investigations into narcotics-trafficking, money-laundering, organised crime and other illicit activities; gather, analyse and preserve evidence, collaborate with intelligence and enforcement partners, and support prosecution of offenders.

 

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:

1. Conduct investigations into narcotics and illicit‑finance operations, ensuring thorough and lawful processes.

2. Collect, preserve, and document physical and digital evidence in compliance with chain‑of‑custody and legal standards.

3. Collaborate with intelligence units and operational partners to strengthen case development and interagency coordination.

4. Prepare accurate case files, reports, and provide professional support during prosecution and court proceedings.

 

 

Knowledge & Experience

  1. 1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in investigations, preferably in narcotics, illicit finance, or organized crime.
  2. 2. Proven ability to plan and execute investigations involving surveillance, evidence gathering, asset tracking, and court proceedings.
  3. 3. Strong understanding of narcotics laws, money‑laundering schemes, organized crime structures, and investigative techniques.
  4. 4. Familiarity with investigative software, financial monitoring systems, digital forensics, and case management platforms.

 

Skills & Abilities

  1. 1. Ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and develop actionable insights.
  2. 2. Strong written and verbal ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences, including courts and agencies.
  3. 3. Capacity to operate autonomously while contributing effectively to multi‑agency teams.
  4. 4. High discretion in handling sensitive information, with the flexibility to work in hazardous or demanding environments.

 

Additional Information

All applicants for employment in the Ministry of Policing must be of good character, with a background that demonstrates their commitment to the civil service values contained in the Fijian Constitution. Applicants must also be a Fijian Citizen, under the age 60 years, in sound health, with a clear police record. The selected applicants will be required to provide a medical and police clearance, prior to taking up duty as a condition of employment.
