Forensic Analyst (Ministry of Policing and Communication)

To provide scientific and technical forensic services that support CNB investigations, prosecutions, and operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:

1. Deliver accurate and timely forensic assessments to support investigations and operational needs.

2. Ensure all evidence is handled, documented, and preserved in compliance with legal and organizational standards.

3. Prepare clear, authoritative reports and present findings in judicial or investigative settings.

4. Uphold quality assurance protocols, safety procedures, and accreditation requirements within the forensic laboratory.

Knowledge & Experience

1. 1. At least 3 years work experience and in depth knowledge of chemical, biological, digital, and trace analysis techniques for narcotics related evidence.
2. 2. Practical experience in maintaining strict chain of custody and handling procedures to ensure integrity.
3. 3. Background in preparing clear, concise, and legally sound forensic reports for investigative and judicial use.
4. 4. Familiarity with international accreditation frameworks (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025) and CNB operational requirements.

Skills & Abilities

1. 1. Ability to conduct complex forensic examinations with accuracy and attention to detail.
2. 2. Skilled in presenting technical findings clearly, both in written reports and as expert testimony in court.
3. 3. Capacity to diagnose issues, interpret evidence, and provide reliable conclusions in time‑sensitive cases.
4. 4. Strong ability to follow protocols, uphold compliance, and contribute to a culture of integrity and accountability.

Additional Information

All applicants for employment in the Ministry of Policing must be of good character, with a background that demonstrates their commitment to the civil service values contained in the Fijian Constitution. Applicants must also be a Fijian Citizen, under the age 60 years, in sound health, with a clear police record. The selected applicants will be required to provide a medical and police clearance, prior to taking up duty as a condition of employment.
