MANAGER PROTECTIVE SECURITY (Ministry of Policing and Communication)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

To lead and manage intelligence analysis and ensure its effective use in policing activities. This includes directing investigations, surveillance, and information gathering, and integrating intelligence, data analytics, and liaison to support operational planning, interdiction, prosecution, and prevention of narcotics trafficking, illicit finance, and organised crime.

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:

1. Developing, implementing, and monitoring protective security policies to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

2. Safeguarding facilities, equipment, and critical infrastructure through physical security measures and regular security surveys.

3. Conducting vetting, background checks, and integrity assurance to maintain a trusted workforce.

4. Protecting digital systems and networks through proactive monitoring, threat detection, and cyber defence strategies.

 

 

Knowledge & Experience

  1. 1. Understanding of government security policies, compliance standards, and risk management practices.
  2. 2. Experience with access control, surveillance systems, and facility protection measures.
  3. 3. Background in managing clearances, integrity checks, and workforce trust-building.
  4. 4. Practical experience in detecting, analyzing, and responding to digital threats and incidents

 

Skills & Abilities

  1. 1. Ability to draft, implement, and ensure adherence to protective security policies.
  2. 2. Skilled in conducting structured reviews of vulnerabilities and compliance gaps.
  3. 3. Capacity to interpret complex security data and recommend effective solutions.
  4. 4. Strong interpersonal skills to build trust, train staff, and uphold ethical standards.

 

Additional Information

All applicants for employment in the Ministry of Policing must be of good character, with a background that demonstrates their commitment to the civil service values contained in the Fijian Constitution. Applicants must also be a Fijian Citizen, under the age 60 years, in sound health, with a clear police record. The selected applicants will be required to provide a medical and police clearance, prior to taking up duty as a condition of employment.
