Manager Domestic Services (Office of the President)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

This position manages, oversees and coordinates the overall domestic services provided to His Excellency the President and the First Lady and ensures these services are provided at the highest possible standard that befits Fiji’s President and Head of State.

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:

1.    Directly liaises with the First Lady on the cleanliness and upkeep of the State House;
2.    Prepares duty rosters and ensuring domestic staff work in accordance with relevant policies and regulations;
3.    Supervises and monitor the daily performance of Domestic staff;
4.    Organise and attends to the successful operation of State functions hosted by His Excellency the President and the First Lady;
5.    Oversees the proper and professional storage and maintenance of all State House Furniture and Fixtures, kitchen utensils and         catering           utensils, laundry and associated equipment; and
6.    Actively contribute to official and national functions of the Office of the President, including planning, budgeting and proper                                 management of human resources as and when required.

Knowledge & Experience

  1. 1. At least 5 years of experience in housekeeping within a very large executive-type setting;
  2. 2. Proficient knowledge in asset management including the management of all manner of household furniture and fixtures, utensils, equipment and tools;
  3. 3. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office packages to plan, monitor and prepare budgets, plans and reports;
  4. 4. Efficient and competent written and oral communication skills; and
  5. 5. Understand the Fijian Constitution (2013) and applicable Labour Laws in Fiji.

 

Skills & Abilities

  1. 1. Ability to execute competent skills in housekeeping, protocol, steward, butler and customer services;
  2. 2. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills including cross-cultural communication;
  3. 3. Ability to assist the Chef in cooking/preparing Five-Star hotel standard meals and services for His Excellency the President and the First Lady and their guests;
  4. 4. Demonstrated empathy and understanding in people management; counseling skills and ability to lead a team with minimum supervision;
  5. 5. Resourcefulness and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; and
  6. 6. Maturity, commitment and enthusiasm in the execution of duties with a Can-do attitude.

 

Additional Information

Applicants for employment in the Office of the President must be Fiji Citizens, under the age of 60 years, in sound health and possess a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a pre-condition of employment.
