The Opportunity
The School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics is one of the largest schools in the University of the South Pacific and is committed to pursue excellence in teaching and research. The school offers a number of Undergraduate programmes in Computing Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics; 2 Professional programmes in ICT (Bachelor of Networks & Security and Bachelor of Software Engineering) accredited by the Australian Computer Society; and 2 accredited Engineering programmes (Electrical & Electronic and Mechanical). The school also offers Postgraduate programmes in Information Technology (namely, Computing Science and Information Systems), Cybersecurity, Mathematics and Physics.
The school seeks to appoint an Assistant Lecturer in Assistant Lecturer in Electrical and Electronics Engineering to teach at all levels of courses (undergraduate and postgraduate) and a range of standard topics in the area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
USP is a multi-modal university, offering courses in a variety of modes including print, face-to-face, blended and online. The Appointee will be based at the main Laucala campus in Fiji but will teach across all campuses in the region. The appointee will also be expected to teach evening sessions.
General Standard
An Assistant Lecturer is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the University, particularly at undergraduate level and to carry out activities to develop their scholarly, research and/or professional expertise relevant to the profession or discipline. An Assistant Lecturer is expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, and the ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
Specific duties required of an Assistant Lecturer may include:
An Assistant Lecturer will work with support and direction from senior academic staff with an increasing degree of autonomy as the academic gains in skill and experience.

The position is available for a term of five (5) years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range
FJ$71,212.25 to FJ$85,454.69 per annum
