Fisheries Assistant - Marine Resources Inventory Survey (MRIS) - Research (Ministry of Fisheries)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The purpose of this position is to provide support in the analysis of socio-economic data, fisheries dependent and independent data and compile technical reports. 

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide support in the analysis of socio-economic data, fisheries dependent and independent data

2. Provide support in the compilation of technical reports

3. Assist in undertaking Applied Research and Seafood value chain on field assessment and socio-economic survey.

Knowledge & Experience

  1. 1. At least 1 year and 6 months working experience in statistical data analysis and technical report writing.
  2. 2. Knowledge to apply some statistical data analysis tools and methods
  3. 3. Knowledge of data collection using quantitative and qualitative methods
  4. 4. Good working knowledge and understanding of fisheries management principles and core roles and responsibilities

Skills & Abilities

  1. 1. Demonstrate good communication skills
  2. 2. Proficiency in using computers and different statistical software
  3. 3. Ability to work as a team
  4. 4. Experience and proven ability to work at sea or outdoors

Additional Information

All applicants for employment in the Ministry of Fisheries must be in sound health, under 60 years with a clear police record and be politically neutral. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment.
