The Opportunity

The University of the South Pacific’s is seeking a highly motivated Accountant to lead the financial management of our Emalus Campus and provide oversight of financial operations across other USP Centres in Solomon Islands. This is a senior role, ensuring compliance, transparency and accountability in all campus financial activities. 

Specific Duties

Specific duties may include:

  • Manage all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), payroll, asset management and reconciliation.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and financial reports for the Campus Director and central Finance Section.
  • Oversee cash handling, banking and expenditure monitoring, ensuring compliance with USP policies and statutory requirements.
  • Provide financial oversight and support to USP Centres, supervising Finance Officers and consolidating reports.
  • Support student financial services, including fee collection, installment arrangements and debt management.
  • Ensure audit readiness and implement recommendations to strengthen financial controls.
  • Work closely with Business Manager, HQ Finance Section, Campus Operations Manager and Campus Director to strengthen financial sustainability. 

The Person we Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A degree and postgraduate qualifications from a relevant discipline; and
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience and management expertise;
  • Experience in a Finance Department within an organization of comparable size and complexity to Emalus Campus;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accounting software such as MYOB;
  • Strong record I multi-unit coordination, compliance oversight, financial reporting and stakeholder engagement;

The position is available for a term of three (3) years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range

  • VUV4,170,641 to VUV5,125,526 per annum
