The position works across all levels of the organisation, providing an informed, professional and efficient service on all aspects of Human Resource Management and Strategy, as determined by the Permanent Secretary through the Head of Human Resources
1) Provide advice and support to the Head of Human Resources Unit in the formulation of information strategies/policies to ensure timely and factual dissemination of human resource information to the Ministry staff in line with the Fijian Civil Service Guidelines;
2) Implementation of Government’s reform initiatives in the areas of human resources and development;
3) Development and regular updating of Human Resource Management & Administration policy and procedures manual and identification of best practices that are appropriate for adoption in the Ministry;
4) Implement agreed human resources management procedures for the ministry, ensuring all employee are managed in accordance with legislations, policy and procedures and within agreed timelines;
5) Manage the Staff Establishment Register and ensure accurate verification of payroll status;
6) Ensure qualified, competent and efficient staff are recruited and retained in the ministry through the effective implementation the ministry’s Recruitment and Selection Process Guideline;
7) Coordinate the interim and annual performance assessment for the ministry; and conduct counselling, resolve grievances and analyse exit interviews. Provide advice and mediate for critical disciplinary cases in the Ministry;
8) Actively contribute to all corporate requirements of the Ministry, including planning, budgeting and human resource activities where required.
All applicants for employment in the Ministry must be of good character, with a background that demonstrates their commitment to the public service values contained in the Fijian Constitution. Applicants must also be Fijian Citizens, under the age of 60 years, in sound health, with a clear police record. The selected applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance prior to taking up duty.
