Director [iTaukei Institution Team](Ministry of Itaukei Affairs)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The officer reports to the Permanent Secretary via the Deputy Secretary iTaukei Affairs policy with the provision of advice on the adoption of the recommendations of the iTaukei Review Report. The officer fosters this through thorough research and assessment, with improved coordination and partnership with relevant stakeholders. The office also monitors and evaluates the implementation and coordination of the iTaukei Review Report, programme and policies aligned to national objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following:

a. Oversee the provision of advice on Culture, Financial, Human Resources, Legal and Communication strategies through the formulation of well researched papers;

b. Coordinate and assist with the management of the iTaukei Review Implementation Unit;

c. Ensure that consultations are conducted on the Great Council of Chiefs Review report.

d. Oversee the inclusion of the Great Council of Chiefs into an Annual Corporate Plan and the Great Council of Chiefs Strategic Development Plan;

e. Oversee the implementation of Monitoring & Evaluation tools;

f. Conduct quarterly performance review/assessment for 4 subordinate officers;

g. Ensure submission of timely Unit monthly reports.

 

Knowledge & Experience

  1. 1.] At least 14 to 15 years’ experience in policy writing; managing programmes and monitoring and evaluation tools
  2. 2.] Ability to provide sound knowledge of Policy & writing Skills, and have collaborative communication and resource management skills;
  3. 3.] Sound knowledge of public administration policy, judgment, decision making and practice.
  4. 4.] Skills and training in media and communications would be an advantage;
  5. 5.] Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff;

 

Skills & Abilities

  1. 1. Demonstrate the ability to manage and motivate staff at different levels and from different experiences.
  2. 2. Ability to compile and analyze reports;
  3. 3. Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and provide assistance to a wide range of staffs in a resource constrained environment;
  4. 4. Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines
  5. 5. Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality and neutrality in a sensitive environment.
  6. 6. Capacity to utilize tools/programmes to support operations of complex organization;
  7. 7. Service oriented approach, with a commitment to supporting the operational / corporate environment of the organization.

 

Additional Information

Applications for employment in the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs must be a Fijian Citizen, under the age of 60 years, in sound health with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment.
