Labourer - Wainibokasi Fisheries Station (Ministry of Fisheries)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The position is responsible for the regular operation, maintenance and general cleanliness of the Wainibokasi Fisheries Station. The position will be responsible to lawn and maintain the cleanliness of the Station’s compound and ensure that the clearing and cleaning of rubbish and drains within the compound are done on a daily basis. 

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure the general cleanliness of the Fisheries Station and the compound;

2. Assist with the proper recording of all issuance of assets and items to staff, farmers and ensure central recording of required information are maintained and updated;

3. Assist with other activities of the Section or Division when required;

4. Contribute to the organization through provision of quality customer services, participating in initiatives to promote team work and employee health, safety and wellbeing.

Knowledge & Experience

  1. At least 1 year of relevant work experience in a similar field
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of operating and maintaining cleaning tools, items and machines
  3. Understanding the Fijian Constitution (2013) and applicable laws of Fiji.

Skills & Abilities

  1. Ability to communicate and tactfully deal with people within the required legislative and policy framework
  2. Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment
  3. Ability to work at sea or outdoor and perform physical duties
  4. High organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
  5. Service oriented approach with a commitment to supporting the operational corporate environment of the Ministry

Additional Information

Applicants for employment in the Ministry of Fisheries must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment.
