Facilitate the implementation of offshore fishery, inshore fishery, inland fishery and aquaculture management and development plans, infrastructure development, promotion of community-based fisheries, institutional strengthening, industry development and the re-seeding of reefs, rivers, waterways and dams.
1. Implement awareness, training & development of inshore in consultation with all stakeholders, fish warden and fishermen on gear technology, facilitate and implement collaborative work with Non-Governmental Organization, other line Ministries, including Tikina, district advisory, village meetings, field visits and tours.
2. Implement provision of assistance for inshore and solicit Fiji Development Bank support, subsidy assistance and other donor agencies.
3. Facilitate the issuance of inshore fishing license and collection of catch data from fisherman for Artisanal /reef fish, non- finfish, subsistence fisheries and Beche-de-mer trading.
4. Assist in monitoring, sea surveillance and roadside patrol for undersize fishery products and create awareness to educate fisher folks for sustainability of inshore marine resources.
5. Provide supervision, coaching and mentoring of Government Wage Earners for the section.
6. Compilation of inventory of assets and on-going monitoring status of all status of assets in the Extension & Advisory Service section- North including Board of Survey and sales.
7. Contribute to the organization through provision of quality customer services, participating in initiatives to promote teamwork and employee health, safety and wellbeing and participation in selection panels.
