The primary purpose of this position is to support Livestock production and research development programmes to support the operations of the Division.
The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:
1. Provide assistance in the effective and efficient implementation of livestock research work programmes.
2. Expedite the safety and security of animal stocks, available of quality feeds and support improvement of breeds, nutrition and infrastructural development.
3. Report for any theft, death and losses to animal stocks.
4. Apply proper care including compliance to quarantine regulations in the farm yard.
5. Attend to livestock, selection of replacement stock and culling, carrying out pasture renovation, weed control, fence repair and fertilizer application.
6. Provide quality animal health care regularly including for all new born, proper documentation, register updates and proper monitoring of growth.
7. Actively contribute to all corporate requirements of the Ministry, Cleanliness of Office Stations, Workshop and Compound, Updating of Stock Register, attend to Ad hoc requests from Senior Executive Management, Ministerial Events and Functions, business process improvements (smart work methods) where required.
Applicants for employment must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment for substantive appointment.
