The position is responsible to provide an effective and efficient veterinary medicine and surgery activities that is compliance to national livestock legislation.
The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:
1. Provide clinical veterinary services for animals (dogs, cats, birds), horses and production animals (cattle, goats, pigs, poultry, sheep) to support the operations of the Division.
2. Attend to field operations, investigation and diseases surveillance programs which includes TB, Brucellosis, HPAI, parasitic diseases and emerging threats.
3. Attend Laboratory diagnostics and pathology support in line with biosafety standards.
4. Promote Veterinary Public Health and Regulatory Services to support value chain.
5. Participate in surveillance programmes for exotic diseases, support emergency response activities including field assessments, containment measures and data reporting.
6. Provide technical advice to farmers, communities and livestock enterprises on improved animal health and production.
7. Promoted awareness on zoonoses, vaccination, biosecurity and responsible drug use.
8. Maintain proper records for drug use, clinical cases, surveillances activities, laboratory submissions and regulatory findings.
9. Provide relevant reports, returns as required under relevant legislations/regulations.
10. Actively contribute to corporate outcomes, work closely with human resources, undertake additional responsibilities as when required by Senior Management, foster change management, follows financial and human resource management guidelines, budgeting, planning, provide policy advice and regulations, principles, and uphold integrity and standards in all aspects of work.
Applicants for employment must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment for substantive appointment.
