The Manager Information Technology (IT) will develop, implement and manage all ICT systemized operations for the Ministry. The area of responsibility includes the full range of information systems, digitisation and telecommunications activities, including determining user requirements, recommending practical solutions and leading Ministry-wide efforts to improve the effective use of technology and increase in efficiency. The incumbent will oversee the development, implementation and use of technology throughout the Ministry, working closely with senior and executive management, Ministry staff, system users, vendors and consultants and the IT Unit staff to assess and address user and institutional needs.
1. Lead the delivery of high quality ICT services across the organisation to provide optimal levels of support for the organisation’s key strategic and operational requirements.
2. Manage and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all ICT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, telephones, software applications, and peripherals.
3. Participate as a member of the Ministry executive management team to provide expert advice on ICT operational and strategic direction and issues in a dynamic and changing business environment through effective day-to-day strategy formulation, customer, and stakeholder engagement, service delivery excellence and people leadership
4. Develop, implement, review, evaluate and report on the organisation’s ICT strategy, business and operating plans and associated projects, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction of the Fijian Government.
5. Drive the implementation and delivery and of new systems, technologies and services to deliver innovative and flexible ICT solutions that achieve business requirements and enhances service delivery of the organisation.
6. Identify and recommend the selection of solution providers, to ensure high quality and sustainable systems implemented.
7. Train, develop and appraise staff effectively. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with Civil Service policies.
8. Active contribution to the Ministry and corporate requirements, including planning, budgeting and human resource activities where required
Applicants for employment must be of good character, with a background that demonstrates their commitment to the Civil Service Values contained in the Fijian Constitution. Applicants must also be Fijian Citizens, under age 60 years, in sound health and with a clear police record. The selected applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance prior to taking up duty.
