The Assistant Carpenter is responsible for carrying out a wide range of carpentry and Joinery tasks, including the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of wooden structures and fittings across government facilities under the supervision of the Carpenter. This role also ensures that public buildings and infrastructure are safe, functional, and maintained to a higher standard.
Key Responsibilities
The position will achieve its purpose through the following:
1. Assists in perform construction, installation and repair of wooden structures, fittings and fixtures according to assigned specifications and standards
2. Assists in conducting routine and emergency maintenance on wooden components of government buildings and infrastructure
3. Properly use maintain and secure carpentry tools machinery and equipment’s
4. Work collaborate with fellow tradespeople, Foremen and supervisors to ensure smooth project executions while communicating effectively on work progress
5. Accurately record work completed, time taken and materials needed
6. Maintain a safe and clean work environment and use tools and equipment’s responsibly
7. Deliver high quality workmanship in all carpentry tasks
8. Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors or foreman precisely and without delays

PERSONAL CHARACTER AND ELIGIBILITY
Applicants for employment must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment.
