TEAM LEADER DESIGN & PLANNING (NORTHERN)

The position will be based at Energy Fiji Limited’s Labasa Depot and will report to the Manager Network Design & Planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure preliminary design of rural distribution system extensions, system reinforcement and Urban supply are carried out within specified time period;
• Responsible for leading the Planning Team to ensure timely output and efficient grid extension projects file execution and completion;
• Ensure all measuring instruments and data collecting devices are handled well;
• Training and up-skilling of human resources within the Design & Planning Department in performing duties with full accountability, transparency and of high quality;
• Maintain an up to date register of all test equipment and safety gear;
• Maintain a database of all applications assessed by the Department;
• Attend to customers and electrical contractors to ascertain their electrical requirements;
• Verify designs and ensure conformity to standards and policies by Technicians;
• Review & finalise construction plans and preliminary designs made by Technicians;
• Ensure preliminary and detailed estimates of material quantities, cost and labour are carried out within EFL’s requirements;
• Prepare regular and special technical reports as and when required;
• Prepare annual, monthly and weekly reports and submit to Manager on time;
• Ensure all safety procedures are observed and adhered to according to OHS requirements and EFL’s safety policies and procedures;
• Timely analysis of application for Power Supply Permits to ensure customers are appropriately assessed and relevant security deposit is charged based on demand;
• Communicate with customers as and when required on their electricity needs and timelines;
• Attend to customer complaints regarding EFL assets and power supply issues and work with relevant departments to solve issues and /or assign technician to carry out necessary reinforcement project;
• Ensure at all times that HSE considerations in all facets of activities are of top priority;
• Assist the Design and Planning team in carrying out its role diligently and efficiently;
• Carry out any other duties assigned by Manager Network Design and Planning.

Key Requirements:

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering or higher qualification in the Electrical Engineering field;
• At least seven (7) years’ experience in Design & Planning Department working as Technician Planning;
• A valid Group two (2) (not provisional) driver’s licence is mandatory;
• Possess valid Category of Authorization in Cat A & E switching;
• Good organisation skills, problem-solving skills and team management skills are required.
