Vuvale supports Australian clients with professional services. Vuvale is seeking an IT Operations Engineer based in Fiji to support its local IT environment, infrastructure projects and day-to-day technical needs.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a practical, hands-on IT professional with strong technical fundamentals, reliability and independent problem-solving skills. You’ll provide on-site support across end-user equipment, networking, servers, and related infrastructure. A project or as-needed contractor arrangement is preferred, but part-time or full-time employment may be considered for the right person.

What You'll Do

• Provide hands-on IT support across desktops, laptops, printers, Wi-Fi and other end-user equipment, resolving hardware, software and connectivity issues in a timely manner. 

• Install, configure, move, replace and test IT and network equipment, including PCs, switches, routers, wireless access points, cabling and patching. 

• Administer and support servers, operating systems, LAN/WAN/VPN connectivity and related infrastructure across BDE locations. 

• Monitor infrastructure availability and performance, maintain effective alerting, and escalate critical issues where required. 

• Manage IT assets across their lifecycle, including allocation, onboarding/offboarding, repairs, replacements, procurement, and maintaining a 100% accurate asset inventory. 

• Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, including network diagrams, equipment registers and configuration records. 

• Support infrastructure improvements, system upgrades, technical projects, business continuity, backup and recovery activities. 

• Provide on-site and after-hours support for infrastructure incidents, maintenance and project work when required. 

• Support and administer access control and CCTV systems while ensuring approved IT security standards and procedures are followed. 

• Coordinate with approved IT vendors and service providers for procurement, technical support and fault resolution.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, network engineering, IT operations, or a similar technical role.
• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Systems Administration, or a related field is desirable.
• Networking & connectivity: LAN, WAN, VPN, internet connectivity, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routers, switches, VLANs, Wi-Fi, UniFi/Ubiquiti, OPNsense, WireGuard and network fault diagnosis.
• Systems, cloud & virtualisation: Windows desktop and server environments, Linux servers, Windows Active Directory, Azure AD, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Office 365, AWS including EC2 and EKS, Proxmox, XCP-ng, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure & business systems: infrastructure monitoring and alerting, backup and recovery, TrueNAS or similar storage, 3CX or other VoIP systems, GSM gateways, Cloudflare Zero Trust, CCTV, access control and end-user equipment.
• A methodical troubleshooting approach that identifies root causes rather than applying only quick fixes.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and see issues through to resolution.
• Clear communication with users, management, vendors and stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn and confidence working through unfamiliar problems.
• Accurate and organised record-keeping across systems, documentation, configuration records and IT assets.
• Reliability when on-site or after-hours support, maintenance and project work are required.
