GENERAL MANAGER FINANCE

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Summary of Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

  • Establish and lead with strategic financial leadership.
  • Prepare, maintain and monitor financial planning, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Oversee, maintain and coordinate financial accounting and statutory reporting.
  • Establish and monitor finance operations, treasury and cash management.
  • Safeguard revenue, identify opportunities for growth, optimise commercial performance, and deliver sustainable business results.
  • Promoting transparency, efficiency, compliance, and value across the procurement and supply-chain process.
  • Enhancing governance, strengthening accountability, managing risk, and protecting the organisation from fraud and financial loss.
  • Providing trusted insights, transparency, and accountability to Board, Executive and Stakeholders.
  • Ensuring disciplined capital investment, effective project oversight, and optimal asset utilisation to maximise value, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
  • Strengthening financial systems, data governance, automation, security and analytics to improve accuracy, transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing Finance team through clear accountability, succession planning, collaboration, ethical conduct and inclusive workplace.
  • Ensuring Finance operates within the Company’s governance framework.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors / Master’s qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification or membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
  • At least 10 years’ relevant experience in financial management, including substantial senior-management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a finance function in a medium or large organisation.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, treasury, financial reporting, audit, internal controls and commercial analysis.
  • Experience supervising multiple departments and managing professional and operational staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement governance, tendering, contract management and supplier performance.
  • Experience advising a chief executive, executive management, Board or Board committee.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting standards, corporate governance and financial-control principles.
  • Proven experience managing organisational change and process improvement.
  • Experience in a government-owned company, statutory authority, public enterprise, regulated entity or commercially oriented service organisation.
  • Experience in postal, logistics, courier, retail, financial services, supply-chain or network-based operations.
  • Knowledge of the Fiji Companies Act 2015 and relevant Fiji taxation, procurement, employment and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning, accounting, procurement or business-intelligence systems.
  • Experience in preparing annual reports, statements of corporate intent, Board papers or ministerial submissions.
  • Experience working with external auditors, internal auditors and public-sector accountability requirements.
