POSTAL OFFICER

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Summary of Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the proper dispatching of Registered articles, fast posts, parcels and airmail and surface mails received over the counter.
  • Carry out operational procedures and practices for receipts, dispatch and delivery of local/overseas mail/ parcels.
  • Timeline for all morning and afternoon dispatches to be adhered to.
  • Ensure that air and surface dispatches of both local and overseas dispatches are dispatched on time to Mail Centre.
  • Attending to inquiries raised by customers and escalating to next level where appropriate in a timely manner.
  • Maintain zero levels of miss-sorts and dispatches.
  • Keep Airline flight and overseas vessels schedules information passed on public notice boards for customers awareness.
  • Maintain a proper record of all parcels accepted on the counter as well as registered articles and fast posts dispatched to Mail Centre on a daily basis.
  • Attend to customer inquiries and assist on counter duties when needed.
  • Receive, process, sort, and dispatch inbound and outbound international mail and parcels.
  • Ensure the Section is in compliance with all OHS rules and regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least a Fiji School Leaving Certificate pass.
  • Sound knowledge of MS applications with attention to detail.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Be an effective communicator and be able to work under minimum supervision.
