TEAM LEADER THERMAL (CENTRAL)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The position will be based at Energy Fiji Limited’s Rokobaili Power Station and will report to the Manager Thermal Generation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Safety Procedures and Practices (OH&S Act) are maintain and compile with and the EFL Safety, Health and Environment Policy is implement.
  • Lead and control a Team assigned with daily works plan for operation, repair and maintenance of EFL Thermal power stations and surrounds.
  • Accountable for the Operations and Maintenance expenditure for the stations within approved budgetary limits including overtime, hiring of additional labour, etc.
  • Ensure prudent inventory management and control of adequate genset and machines spares.
  • Accountable for the administration of the Teams human resources and their performance and in particular annual leave management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting for power stations, including all EFL Thermal generation statistics, to Manager (Manager) Thermal Generation.
  • Ensure continued amicable relationship and manage contracts with stakeholders/landowners.
  • Ensure security of thermal power station installations.
  • Assist in the preparation of yearly budgets and maintenance plans for all thermal generation assets and activities.
  • Ensure continual improvement in Thermal operational activities for increased productivity, increase efficiency and a high standard of assets management.
  • Supervise the inspection and testing of completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Supervise the inspection, regulation and functioning of installed plants and equipment employed in power stations.
  • Monitor the competence of the team, recommending development provide/supervise the provision of on-the-job training of employees.
  • Assist in the recruitment of electrical engineering personnel for the department and contribute to on-the- job training including other appropriate training in liaison with the Training department.
  • Report any change in power station system elements or plant and co-ordinate for drawing amendments.
  • Monitor and appraise performance of members against the Key Performance targets and provide counseling with the view to improve on areas of employee weakness.
  • Ensure sufficient consumables and engine spares are available for the efficient daily operation and maintenance of the stations.
  • Ensure that O&M team are train & certify with required O&M knowledge and skills.
  • Ensure proper fuel management system implemented and followed.
  • Ensure proper management of Tools and Test Equipment used by Team.
  • Overseeing of vehicle management and upkeep.
  • Responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of Power Stations and depots.
  • Responsible for general supervision and administration of personnel at power station level.
  • Carry out any other work as required by the Manager Generation Thermal and be on standby duties after normal working hours.
  • Display EFL values and standards at all times

Competency:

  • A Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized Tertiary Institution;
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in power generation, three (3) of which as a Thermal Generation Technician, or a Trade Certificate with at least 15 years of relevant experience;
  • Computer literate and have some related qualification or experience with Project Management.
