PROJECT MANAGER SUBSTATION

The position will be based at Energy Fiji Limited’s Kinoya/ Navutu Depot and will report to the General Manager Network.

The Manager Substations is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and the development and implementation of operational and maintenance procedures and practices for EFL zone substations. The role also liaises with relevant SBA Managers to develop practical solutions and assist with the implementation of project plans and business decisions while ensuring compliance with organizational and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct research and develop maintenance standards and practices for 132kV and 33kV zone substations.

• Prepare designs for modifications to substation systems, including detailed analysis and structural/electrical calculations where required.

• Prepare detailed analyses, plans, studies, and supporting documentation to improve substation SAIDI and SAIFI performance indices.

• Prepare and maintain substation drawings and databases and use available data and software to evaluate system performance and recommend future improvements.

• Drive innovation and future-proofing in the department.

• Prepare, implement, monitor, and report on the department's operational (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets.

• Develop reports, maintenance policies, procedures, material specifications, and electrical reviews.

• Develop and implement a defect management classification system to prioritize and respond to asset defects.

• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to engineers and technicians.

• Lead the substations team in achieving Network Asset Management Plan objectives, Corporate Plan targets, and Balanced Scorecard targets.

• Approve work scopes for maintenance execution and vegetation management programs and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

• Prepare tender specifications, undertake tender evaluations, and prepare Board tender papers,  business cases, and Bid Evaluation Reports.

• Demonstrate commitment to EFL values, safety, environmental programs, and quality assurance requirements.

• Ensure Department reports are prepared, reviewed for quality, and submitted on time.

• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and relevant Fiji legislation.

• Maintain the highest standards of integrity.

Key Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution with at least 8 years’ relevant post-graduate experience in substation design, construction, maintenance and associated control systems; OR a Advance Diploma / Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution with at least 15 years’ relevant post-diploma experience in substation design, construction, maintenance and associated control systems;

• Applicants qualifying through the Diploma pathway must possess a Postgraduate Diploma in a related field and provide evidence of active progression towards a Master's qualification in a related field.

• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a supervisory engineering role.

• Eligibility for corporate membership in a recognized professional engineering body.

• Consistently excellent annual performance reports.

• EFL High Voltage Authorization in Categories A, B, C, and F is mandatory.

• Clean and valid full group 2 manual driver's license (not provisional) is mandatory.

• Ability to lead, motivate, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders both within and outside the organization.
