Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator

Plantation Island Resort is seeking a reliable and experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to oversee the daily operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the plant operates safely and efficiently, maintaining water quality standards, monitoring equipment, and supporting the resort’s environmental sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Operate and monitor the resort’s wastewater treatment plant and associated equipment to ensure efficient daily operation.

·        Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance of pumps, filters, tanks, pipes, and other treatment equipment.

·        Monitor wastewater treatment processes and conduct regular water quality testing as required.

·        Record daily plant readings, chemical usage, water quality results, maintenance activities, and operational issues.

·        Ensure appropriate chemical dosing and safe handling, storage, and disposal of treatment chemicals.

·        Identify and report equipment faults, leaks, blockages, or other operational issues and assist with troubleshooting and repairs.

·        Maintain the wastewater treatment plant and surrounding areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

·        Ensure all wastewater is treated and discharged in accordance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

·        Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance and coordinate with the Engineering team when required.

·        Maintain accurate records and prepare regular operational reports for the Engineering Manager and Resort Management.

·        Monitor environmental impacts and promptly report any incidents, abnormal readings, or potential compliance issues.

·        Follow all workplace health, safety, environmental, and chemical-handling procedures.

·        Support the resort’s environmental sustainability initiatives and recommend improvements to wastewater management practices.

·        Work closely with other departments to ensure uninterrupted and efficient plant operations.

·        Any other reasonable task as requested by your manager.

About You:

·        Previous experience as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, Water Treatment Operator, or similar role.

·        Relevant qualification or technical training in Water Treatment, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

·        Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, pumps, filtration systems, and chemical dosing.

·        Experience monitoring water quality, conducting routine testing, and maintaining accurate operational records.

·        Ability to identify equipment issues and carry out basic troubleshooting and maintenance.

·        Strong understanding of workplace health, safety, environmental, and compliance requirements.

·        Good communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·        Physically fit and comfortable working in an outdoor plant environment.

·        Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
