Barista

Plantation Island Resort is where unforgettable family memories meet genuine island hospitality. We are currently seeking a friendly, energetic, and passionate Barista to join our Food & Beverage team.

As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, tea, and specialty beverages while delivering exceptional customer service to our guests. The successful candidate will have a passion for coffee, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment. You will play an important role in creating memorable guest experiences through outstanding service, product knowledge, and a welcoming attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve a wide range of hot beverages such as flat white, long black, cappuccino, hot chocolate, mocha, latte, espresso, tea etc, ensuring item is accurately prepared to meet customer’s preference, and is presented with flair
• Retain knowledge of current coffee trends, ensuring you are skilled to be able to prepare beverages that reflect current trends
• Prepare and serve a variety of fresh fruit and vegetable juices, understanding and being able to explain what benefits are derived from different mixes of fruits and vegetables
• Prepare and serve a variety of smoothies, understanding what benefits are derived from different types of smoothies
• Prepare and serve other standard cold and hot beverages as offered at your outlet
• Clean and prepare the coffee machine for service, ensuring adequate coffee bean supply on hand
• Maintain a tidy work environment, ensuring juice machines and other utensils and equipment are thoroughly cleaned after each use
• Accurately process payment or room charge through POS system, ensuring guest name and other details are accurately entered
• Ensure all beverages and light food refreshments served are accounted for in processing of revenue or posting to in-house charge accounts
• Ensure food fridge and other display cabinets or jars etc are kept hygienically clean and at correct temperatures for safe storage of food
• Ensure all mis-en-plus and stock items are on-hand to cater for your shift and ensure that all menu items are available
• Clean all bench, working and service surfaces, fridges, equipment, utensils and crockery/glassware at end of shift, and as required to maintain a tidy workspace during your shift
• Empty all rubbish bins as required during and at the end of your shift, ensuring clean, lined rubbish bins are ready for the next shift
• Secure all stock items, fridges etc prior to closing the outlet
• Complete any stock requisitions as needed to maintain service supplies on hand for the next shift
• Sweep and mop outlet floors prior to departure
• Any other reasonable task as requested by your manager

About You:

Natural talent for customer service and demonstrated Bula Spirit

• Demonstrated barista skills and knowledge of modern coffee trends
• Attention to detail
• Demonstrated understanding of Food Safety and Hygiene principles
• Previous barista experience is preferred
