The Student Learning Specialist will be an integral player at the USP Solomon Island Campus in providing high-quality, student-centered services and support.

The Opportunity

There is an opportunity for a Student Learning Specialist (SLS) to be appointed in the Solomon Islands Campus to provide support services to ensure that all students are better equipped to cope at USP, to complete their programmes of study and to achieve academic excellence.

The Student Learning Specialist (SLS) coordinates and manages the SLS programme to enhance student success across all learning modes. The role provides academic support, facilitates peer learning initiatives, develops learning resources, delivers academic skills training, monitors student progress, promotes inclusive learning practices, and contributes to research and university development initiatives.

The Student Learning Specialist will:

  • Prepare, implement, manage, facilitate and evaluate the academic and study skills activities and resources for SLS at the USP campuses and centres in the Solomon Islands.
  • Ensure high quality and innovative learning support is delivered to students studying via Face-to-Face, Print, Blended and Online learners.
  • Work collaboratively with academic and professional staff across the University to support student learning, enhance the student experience and improve student retention and success.  

THe Student Learning Specialist will be responsible for:

1. Programme Management & Coordination

2. Student Academic Support & Success

3. Learning Development & Workshop Facilitation 

 4. Research, Evaluation & Reporting

5. Inclusive Education & Student Engagement

6. Digital Learning & Innovation

 

The Person We Seek

To be considerd for the position, the applicant must have:

i) A degree and postgraduate qualifications from a relevant discipline; and 

(ii) Four (4) years of relevant experience and management expertise; 

(iii) In exceptional cases and only with the prior endorsement of the Executive Director People and Workforce Strategy and upon approval from the Vice-Chancellor and President, a degree or professional qualification with significant relevant industry/professional experience may be considered. 

Desireable 

- Experience in working with students from diverse learning backgrounds and abilities;

- Experience working in the Pacific Region;

- Can work after normal working hours and during weekends; and 

- Willingness to participate in the general activities of the University

The position is available for a term of three years renewable.

 

Salary Range

  • Level 1: SBD242,624 to SBD296,525 per annum
