Graduate Accountant

We are seeking a motivated Graduate Accountant with 1–2 years' practical accounting experience to join our Finance Team based in our Fiji office in Martintar. 1st Call Recruitment is a proudly New Zealand-owned business with operations across New Zealand and Fiji

This is an outstanding opportunity for motivated team member looking to develop their accounting career whilst gaining exposure to international accounting, payroll, and finance operations across multiple business entities.

About the Role

Reporting directly to our Fiji based Senior Accountant, you will work closely with out NZ team daily and become an integral member of our finance team, assisting with the day-to-day payroll functions that support over 2,000 payroll transactions every month. This role will also have you assisting in AP / AR, end of month and end of Fin year duties, monthly reporting, credit control and other accounts tasks as required.

Trust, accuracy, organisation and attention to detail are critical, as our team is responsible for ensuring our employees are paid correctly and on time every week.

We use Xero for our accounting functions. Xero experience in this is essential. Training on in-house Payroll software will be provided on our in-house payroll, reporting and business management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll processing and payroll support
  • Bank reconciliations, AP & AR
  • General ledger reconciliations
  • Data entry and maintaining financial records
  • Assisting with month-end reporting
  • Processing large volumes of payroll information with exceptional accuracy
  • Supporting both New Zealand and Fiji accounting functions
  • Maintaining confidentiality of financial and payroll information
  • Providing administrative support to the finance team as required

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Degree qualified in accounting (or nearing completion)
  • Has 1–2 years' experience in an accounting or payroll environment
  • Experienced using Xero (essential) and Microsoft office
  • Highly accurate with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent English communication – both Written and verbal
  • Comfortable working with large volumes of numerical and alphanumeric data
  • Organised and able to consistently meet deadlines
  • Reliable with excellent attendance and punctuality, A positive team player with a strong work ethic
  • Professional, trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Keen to learn and develop within a supportive finance team
