Fuel Efficiency Engineer (FEE)

Reporting to the Manager Aircraft Performance, the Fuel Efficiency Engineer (FEE) is responsible for ensuring that the Fiji Airways and Fiji Link fleets operate at optimum fuel efficiency levels while achieving budgeted fuel burn and emissions control targets.

The Fuel Efficiency Engineer is also responsible for maximizing the use of the SkyBreathe Fuel Efficiency software by identifying opportunities for fuel-saving initiatives, monitoring the effectiveness of fuel efficiency programmes, and liaising with key stakeholders, including the Performance, Fleet, and SkyBreathe Administration teams, to ensure compliance with agreed targets, objectives, and performance measures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be actively involved in setting the budget fuel savings target.
• Drive the implementation of initiatives to achieve the budgeted fuel savings target.
• Coordinate and lead cost-benefit analyses for fuel efficiency initiatives.
• Conduct fuel burn comparisons to identify the causes of unexpected discrepancies and support Occurrence Report investigations.
• Prepare monthly analyses of additional fuel uplift by fleet for Fleet Managers.
• Assist in establishing the monthly minimum contingency fuel requirements for all sectors and aircraft types based on historical data.
• Maintain the monthly Fuel Panel dashboard(s), ensuring the current status of all identified initiatives is accurately reflected.
• Ensure all fuel policy changes and fuel-saving initiatives are compliant with regulatory requirements, approved by Fleet Management, and documented prior to implementation.
• Be actively involved in the Fuel Savings Review Committee.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with other departments within Fiji Airways and with key external stakeholders to support the achievement of fuel-saving initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• A University Degree preferably in Engineering, IT,  Science majoring in Physics and Mathematics or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 3 years of airline experience in airline operations or as a Flight Crewmember.
