Engineering Supervisor

Role Description:
This is a full-time on-site role based at Viti Foods Pte Limited (VFL), a subsidiary of CJ Patel Group of Companies. VFL specializes in manufacturing canned tuna and mackerel products for local and export markets. We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Engineering Supervisor (HOD). The successful incumbent will lead and manage all engineering, maintenance, utilities, and technical operations within our Tuna & Mackerel Fish Canning Plant at Viti Foods Pte Limited, Laucala Beach Estate, Suva. This role is critical in ensuring maximum equipment reliability, plant efficiency,
food safety compliance, and operational continuity.

• Lead and manage the Engineering Department, including supervision, coaching, performance management, workforce planning, and fostering a strong safety and high-performance culture.
• Develop, implement, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure maximum equipment reliability, plant availability, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all production equipment, canning lines, retorts, boilers, refrigeration systems, compressors, generators, and plant utilities while minimizing downtime through effective troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering projects, capital expenditure initiatives, equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities while effectively managing maintenance budgets and engineering costs.
• Ensure full compliance with HACCP, GMP, Food Safety, OHS, Environmental, and regulatory requirements, including supporting audits, inspections, and maintaining accurate engineering documentation and records.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of all plant utilities and support services, including steam generation,
• refrigeration and cold storage, compressed air systems, water treatment facilities, electrical distribution networks, wastewater treatment systems, and standby power generation.
• Drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, productivity enhancement, cost reduction initiatives, and implementation of best maintenance practices to improve overall plant performance and asset reliability.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Degree, Diploma, or Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in a manufacturing engineering environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience within food processing, fish processing, canning, FMCG manufacturing, or industrial processing environments.
• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance systems, utilities management, and plant operations.
• Sound understanding of HACCP, GMP, Food Safety, and Workplace Health & Safety requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in maintenance planning and reporting systems.
