The Role
The Regional Safeguards Coordinator provides administrative, coordination, and implementation support to the Regional Safeguards Manager to strengthen safeguarding systems and practices across Pacific Australia Skills. The role supports the effective implementation of safeguarding requirements in line with DFAT Safeguarding Policies (Child Protection and PSEAH), DT Global safeguarding frameworks, and relevant national and international standards.
All responsibilities are undertaken in accordance with safeguarding principles, including Do No Harm, survivor-centered and trauma-informed approaches, inclusion, confidentiality, and risk-aware decision making.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Safeguards Implementation Support
· Support the implementation of the Pacific Australia Skills Safeguards Strategy in alignment with DFAT and DT Global safeguarding standards
· Assist in promoting safeguarding awareness across the program using clear, practical, and inclusive approaches
· Support integration of safeguarding requirements into program activities, ensuring accessibility, inclusion, and safe participation
2. Coordination and Administrative Support
· Provide administrative and coordination support to the Regional Safeguards Manager on safeguarding priorities, activities, and workplans
· Assist in organizing and coordinating safeguarding meetings, workshops, and partner engagements, including logistics and follow-up actions
· Support the organization and maintenance of safeguarding documentation and resources to ensure accessibility and consistency
3. Training and Capacity Building Support
4. Partner Safeguarding and Due Diligence Support
5. Risk Management and Compliance Support
6. Coordination with Country Safeguards Focal Points
7. Reporting and Escalation Support
8. Other Duties
Undertake other administrative and coordination tasks as requested by the Regional Safeguards Manager
Selection Criteria
Essential Experience and Knowledge
Relevant tertiary qualification in social sciences, international development, gender studies, community development, or a related field
Demonstrated experience (2–4 years) in a coordination, administration, or support role, preferably within development programs or donor-funded projects
Experience collaborating with multiple country staff and context
Understanding of safeguarding principles, including Child Protection (CP), Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), and Do No Harm approaches
Experience supporting the coordination of training, workshops, or capacity building activities
Experience supporting partner engagement, program delivery, or project implementation activities
Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, track actions, and meet deadlines
Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management systems
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different program functions
Demonstrated cultural awareness and ability to work effectively in Pacific contexts and Timor-Leste
Understanding of and commitment to Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Child Protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), prevention of human trafficking, environmental protection, anti-corruption and other DFAT safeguarding policies.
