MANAGEMENT TRAINEE - PRODUCTION

Role Description:

Viti Foods Pte Limited is a subsidiary of CJ Patel Group of Companies and we specialize in manufacturing canned tuna and mackerel products for local and export markets. We are seeking to recruit a motivated and high-potential Management Trainee – Production to support factory operations and develop future leadership capability within our manufacturing business to be based at Laucala Beach Estate, Suva.

The successful incumbent will work closely with the Production Manager and gain progressive responsibility across production, safety, quality, and operational efficiency as part of a structured development and succession plan.

• Support day-to-day factory operations, including production planning, scheduling, output monitoring, and coordination across departments to ensure smooth workflow.
• Assist in tracking productivity, efficiency, wastage, and cost control, and contribute ideas for continuous improvement
• initiatives.
• Participate in quality control activities, audits, and corrective action plans to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
• Support workforce management activities including shift planning, attendance monitoring, manpower allocation, and coordination with HR on recruitment and training.
• Support preventive maintenance planning and coordination to ensure plant, equipment, and tools operate efficiently and reliably.
• Contribute to process optimization, value-added production initiatives, and new product development projects.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and leadership development initiatives to build technical, managerial, and decision-making skills.
• Gradually assume increased responsibility for specific operational areas as part of a structured development and succession pathway.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a production or food manufacturing environment.
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Biology/Chemistry, Marine Science or a related field.
• Exposure to production processes and factory-floor operations, with basic supervision skills.
• Knowledge of double-seaming technology is desirable.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
• A team-oriented mindset with the drive, energy, and commitment to grow into a leadership role.
