JUNIOR SOUS PASTRY CHEF/BAKERY

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Junior Sous Pastry Chef / Bakery to join our dynamic culinary team. Hands on responsibility for supporting the daily operation of the pastry and bakery section while working closely with the Head Pastry Chef and Pastry Sous Chef. A Junior Sous Pastry Chef will also assist in planning production, maintaining standards, and contributing to seasonal offerings.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Support the day to day operations of the pastry and bakery section
• Assist in leading, mentoring, and developing the pastry team through calm and constructive coaching while coordinating daily production
• Prepare and produce a wide range of pastry and bakery items including desserts, artisan breads, rolls, muffins, laminated pastries, croissants, doughnuts, and related items using traditional and modern techniques
• Assist in developing and introducing new pastry and dessert concepts to refresh menus and enhance guest experience
• Ensure consistent quality across all pastry and dessert offerings including flavour, texture, and presentation
• Support pastry presentation including finishing, plating, and display standards
• Supervise and coordinate pastry production to ensure timing, consistency, and quality standards are met
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering in line with approved budgets and cost control measures
• Ensure correct food handling practices, temperature control, and full compliance with food hygiene, health, and safety standards
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency across all pastry and bakery work areas
• Operate and maintain pastry equipment, reporting faults or maintenance issues promptly
• Promote a positive working environment through teamwork, respect, accountability, and professional behaviour
• Assist with training and development of junior team members
• Attend scheduled meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement

Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years experience in a Pastry Chef de Partie role with bakery experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort
• Formal culinary training or equivalent experience
• Strong knowledge of pastry
and bakery techniques and presentation
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment
