Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Background: 

Senior Instructor – A Senior Instructor is a fully qualified TVET academic in a particular discipline which is taught proficiently up to teach up to level 6 Diploma / level 4 Certificate (for areas that fall in this category). A Senior Instructor will develop new curricula and supervise junior staff. They should be well engaged with industry and demonstrate Leadership in teaching and be involved in administrative duties at least at Department/School level.

Instructor - An Instructor has expertise in a particular discipline which is taught proficiently up to level 4 Certificate (level 6 Diploma, if applicable). An Instructor will be engaged with industry to maintain the currency of his/her qualification and take responsibility for his/her professional development. An Instructor is involved in the work of their Department and takes on administrative roles that assist the Department to function.

Assistant Instructor – An Assistant Instructor is qualified to teach up to level 4 Certificate (level 6 Diploma, if applicable) and assist Instructors/Senior academics in delivering course content, conducting practical sessions, and assessing student performance (in classroom and labs). Their responsibilities also include providing academic guidance to students and assisting in the development of educational materials and curricula.

Person Specification: 

Senior Instructor

Essential:

 

  • Trade Certificate (Level 4) in a related field with 15 years of industry with supervisory or senior management experience or
  • Trade Diploma (Level 5) with 12 years of industry with supervisory or senior management experience OR
  • Diploma/Advanced Diploma (Level 6) and/or with 10 years of industry with supervisory or senior management experience in industry and/or teaching experience.
  • Plus, Certificate in Teaching TVET (level 5)/ Cert IV in Training & Assessment/ National Certificate/ Diploma in Tertiary Teaching/ International Diploma in Tertiary Teaching) 

Note: Applicants who do not hold the specified teaching qualification should be willing to upgrade. 

  • Administrative duties.
  • Having strong Industry network and engagement.
  • Academic and/or industrial collegiality.
  • Can teach proficiently at Level 5 & 6 (Diploma level courses).

 

Instructor

Essential:

 

  • Trade Certificate (Level 4) in a related field with 12 years of industry experience OR
  • Trade Diploma (level 5) in a related field with 10 years of industry experience OR
  • Diploma (level 6) in a related field with 8 years of industry/ teaching experience.
  • Plus, Certificate in Teaching TVET (level 5)/ Cert IV in Training & Assessment/ National Certificate/ Diploma in Tertiary Teaching/ International Diploma in Tertiary Teaching).

Note: Applicants who do not hold the specified teaching qualification should be willing to upgrade.

  • Administrative duties.

 

Assistant Instructor

Essential:

 

  • Trade Certificate (FQF level 4) with at least 6 years industry/ teaching experience with License or Professional certification.
  • Plus, Certificate in Teaching TVET (level 5)/ Cert IV in Training & Assessment/ National Certificate / Diploma in Tertiary Teaching.

Salary: Senior Instructor – FJD56,335.00 gross per annum plus 10% superannuation

             Instructor – FJD40,244.00 gross per annum plus 10% superannuation

            Assistant Instructor – FJD32,875.00 gross per annum plus 10% superannuation
